Spanning 22,270 square kilometres in northern Namibia, Etosha National Park is defined by a colossal salt pan that creates a shimmering, otherworldly white landscape. This iconic reserve serves as a vital sanctuary for endangered black and white rhinos, massive elephant herds, and prides of lions. The true magic of an Etosha safari lies at its vibrant waterholes, where an incredible array of African wildlife gathers right before your eyes.
Etosha National Park is home to four of Africa’s Big Five which can easily be spotted, especially throughout Namibia’s dry season. Elephants and giraffes are abundant here, as well as blue wildebeests, zebras and several desert-adapted antelopes such as springboks and gemsboks. Etosha is known for its floodlit watering holes, which are perfect for spotting rare black rhinos, lions, leopards and cheetahs during night safaris. The park is home to a total of 114 mammals, 340 bird species and 110 types of reptile, making Etosha National Park not only perfect for safari excursions, but a bird-watcher’s paradise, too.
