Mbali Mbali Katavi Lodge

In the centre of Katavi National Park lies Mbali Mbali Katavi Lodge, offering an exciting bush experience with breathtaking views over the vast plains of Katisunga.

Mbali Mbali Katavi Lodge is ideal for the traveller looking for a truly remote experience away from regular tourist routes. Katavi is the third largest yet least visited park in Tanzania, offering a true wilderness safari. The park's main geographical features are the wetland grass plains to the north and the palm-fringed Lake Chada to the south-east, but the main focus for game viewing within the park is the Katuma River. During the rainy season, these lush, marshy lakes are a haven for myriad waterbirds, and they also support Tanzania's densest concentrations of hippos and crocodiles. During the dry season, when the floodwaters retreat, the Katuma River, reduced to a shallow, muddy trickle, forms the only source of drinking water for miles around, and the flanking floodplains support spectacular numbers of game. A flock of pelicans are frequent visitors to the area.

There are 11 well-furnished and well-equipped guest rooms, with 1 king or 2 twin beds, en suite facilities, writing desks and fine linen. All tents are under thatch on raised platforms and have a large private deck, comfortable chairs and coffee table. The newest addition to Katuma Bush Lodge is the spectacular Sable Suite. This exclusive private Suite boasts a lounge/sitting area, indoor dining area, main en suite bedroom with private lounge and dressing room plus a 2nd en suite bedroom. Remarkable views of the Katisunga floodplains are provided from a vast deck, which also comprises an outdoor bath, day bed and sun loungers. A separate dining area on the deck facilitates private meals under the stars.
