A typical game drive may reveal elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, wildebeest and impalas all in impressive numbers. Other wildlife includes lions, hyenas, jackals and eland. The birdlife at Mikumi is exceptional.
The grassy plains of Mikumi are home to a range of wildlife, both predator and prey. Elephants, zebra and wildebeest are especially common here. Lions are less common here but can still be seen as they prey on other grazing mammals. Giraffes are less common here, but can still be seen, as can hippos. Hyena and leopards are rare here, but can still be spotted occasionally, as can the African Wild Dog.
